A Day in the Park

Crystal's Note: Hey guys! I am thrilled for you to read my one-shot and let me know what you think! It's been light-years since I have posted something up and I'm just getting started. I really hope you all enjoy this, I put a lot of thought into it. Without further ado, read on!

Title: A Day in the Park

The streets were paved with mounts of pearl white snow. The sight was utterly captivating and Zaiann Maraj-Samuels couldn't help but stare in awe. The seven-year old smiled up at her father who immediately smiled back. The black Ford Expedition that had driven them there silently left the scene as the father and daughter stood in front of the vacant park. Zaiann's soft hazel eyes lingered on the view a bit longer until a black BMW interrupted her admiration. SB was happy to see his wife step out of the shiny vehicle, clad in a fuchsia pea coat, a pair of black AG Adriano Goldschmied skinny jeans and fuchsia, low-top Dr. Martens that complimented the upper half of her attire. She also wore a black bob that gracefully hung past her shoulders. Her make-up consisted of light pink lipstick and simple black eye liner. Onika, who preferred to be called Nicki, straightened her coat than lent out a hand to her second daughter, Mikayla, so she could step out.

The small three-year old was breathtakingly beautiful. Her huge, glossy eyes were a light gray, a color that one parent had the gene for, thanks to their great-grandmother. The child also had mocha colored skin and dark brown waves of hair. With a stunning, toothless smile, how can anyone deny the beauty this toddler held?

"Daddy!" Mikayla exclaimed, jumping happily into her fathers arms. SB gratefully accepted the love and held his youngest daughter tight. The reason why the family was momentarily separated for the day was because Nicki had a business trip in L.A and Zaiann had a doctor's appointment, so SB agreed to take her. Both parents decided on Nicki taking Mikayla with her, since the two girls happened to fight in public settings all the time.

Nicki smiled then turned her attention to Zaiann, who scrunched her nose and exposed her crestfallen expression.

"Oh really Zai? That's how you feel?" Nicki questioned as the little girl crossed her arms in front of her chest and nodded, trying to hide her inevitable smile. Nicki's facial expression softened and transformed into a pout.

"Do you see that, babe? Zai doesn't love me." The mother of two whined as Mikayla gave her older sister a scolding look.

"Meanie! Say hi to mama!" Mikayla demanded, getting a laugh out of Nicki. SB tickled the three-year old and was delighted with the bubbly laugh he got in response.

"No! Mama said she isn't getting me a puppy for Christmas. I don't like her anymore."

Nicki gasped as she bent down to face Zaiann.

"How can you say that?! Me and daddy cleared out this whole park for you! Aren't you happy with that?"

"NO."

SB and Mikayla giggled, which got a death glare from Nicki.

"You shouldn't say things like that Zai. Be happy mommy is even getting you something for Christmas." SB added, trying to better the situation. Zaiann's face dropped as she continued to whine.

"But you're a zillionaire mommy! Why can't I get a puppy?"

Nicki sighed as she tucked a piece of loose hair behind Zaiann's ear. The mother took a moment to observe her daughter's flawless display. Loose black curls that reached just above her shoulders, milk chocolate skin, the same dainty nose as hers and those stunning hazel eyes. Sometimes Nicki couldn't believe the eye color's that her girls inherited and thought it was a gift from God himself. Those eyes never failed to tug at her heart-strings, especially Mikayla's.

"Baby, it's not that I don't want to get you one. I just don't know if you're ready to take on that responsibility yet."

"But I AM ready!" Zaiann insisted.

"Zai, just let it go." SB urged.

"But it's not fair! Everyone back at home has one! Leah, Zeplin, Grace…"

"Zaiann, listen. I don't want to talk about this here, okay? Just enjoy yourself for now. Go play with your little sister."

Unhappy, Zaiann stomped off and was soon followed by Mikayla who tried to keep up. Nicki stood up from her position and instantly accepted her husbands embrace. She felt warm and safe, as always.

"Am I a bad mother?"

"Nic, don't be ridiculous. It's a goddamn animal. She'll get over it." SB assured. Nicki laid her head on his chest and watched as Mikayla dumped snow on Zaiann's head then got chased for revenge.

"Yeah, but, did you hear what she said? She knows we have money and because of that, she thinks she can get anything she wants. I don't like that."

"Is that the real reason you don't want to get it for her? Because she'll continue to think that?"

"Maybe. I don't know. I guess. Ugh. I just want her to know that hard work is how you achieve what you want."

"And she will know that, as long as she has the best mommy in the world to teach her."

Nicki smiled up at Safaree then accepted a soft, chaste kiss on the lips. SB leaned in for another one but was rudely interrupted by a snowball that hit the side of his head.

Mikayla laughed her charming, bubbly laugh out loud then ran as soon as SB parted from Nicki to go after her.

"Oh my god, Kay! You crazy little bug!" Nicki yelled, laughing at the sight of SB being attacked by a three-year old with badly assembled snow balls.

In the midst of the scene, Zaiann snuck up on her mother and threw a huge snowball at her. The extremely cold object hit Nicki right in her face, which caused everyone to stop and stare with their mouths open. Adding to it, SB and Mikayla threw two more snowballs, one landing on Nicki's pea coat and the other on her Dr. Martens. At this point, everyone started to laugh (except for Nicki) and ran off.

"That was for saying you're not getting me a puppy!" Zaiann yelled, running out of her mothers reach. Nicki soon went after them and caught up to Mikayla.

"Come here Mikayla-ayla," Nicki said, catching the small girl. She spinned her around, which got a few giggles, then threw her onto the snow. Her black pea coat was covered in the cold substance and her gray eyes lit up with laughter.

"One down, two more big baby's to go!" the mother said, chasing after them. SB threw mounts of snow at her, which caused her to lose balance and fall. Zaiann laughed then continued to run with her father.

"You can't catch me!" Zaiann claimed, standing on top of a wooden bench triumphantly. SB laughed then yelled out a diss.

"Look at her wig, Zai! It's all wet and crusty."

Nicki stood up and tried hard not to show her dismay.

"That's it, I'm tired of ya'll asses already!" Nicki shouted, picking up a huge amount of snow, then clumsily threw it at her targets. She expectantly missed.

The family of four spent the next hour and a half throwing snow at each other, playing several games of freeze tag (literally), laughing at SB when he fell off of the big kid swing, then laughing at Nicki when she got stuck in the baby swing. It was a pleasant afternoon and the parents were glad to escape the harsh and difficult world of their careers. Nicki was the Queen of Hip-Hop and after ten years of making top chart hits and breaking endless amounts of records, it was nice to know she could slow down, start a family and enjoy a day with them. She spent a lot of time performing, attending award shows, and signing artists to her new label that she barely had time to spend with her two baby girls and her husband. As much as it pained her and SB, their children understood the nature of the job and respected what their mommy and daddy did for a living. It wasn't easy, but the four of them managed to work through it, together.

"Alright sexy ladies, who wants me to carry them on my back?" Safaree asked, expecting to get a big "Me!" from all of them. He instead, ended up getting the complete opposite.

"EW."

"Nu-uh."

"No thank you daddy."

Mikayla was the only polite one which made SB smile.

"See, Kay respects me. I don't know why you and Zai don't."

"Shut up, Safaree. Did you call our driver?" the mother asked, annoyed with the large specks of snow all over her clothes, hair and inside her boots. She was so ready to go home, take a long hot shower, and stay up watching Barbie movies with her girls.

"Don't tell daddy to shut up!" Mikayla defended, giving her mother an angry look. SB smiled happily then grabbed his youngest daughters hand.

"Yeah, what she said. Nigguh."

"Ooo! Daddy used inappropriate language!" Zaiann exclaimed as she pointed an excusing finger at him.

The girls had a home school teacher, Ms. Robinson, who taught them exceptionally well. They had a wide range of vocabulary for their age, something Nicki always found amazing.

"It's okay baby, I'll get him later." Nicki promised, giving him a look. SB's gaze dropped to the floor, avoiding her inflammable wrath.

Not only was SB her husband, but he was also her best friend. Whenever she needed a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold or an ear that would listen, he was the first person she went too. They remained at each other sides for over fifteen years now and their playful banter never changed. They never expected for their close friendship to bloom into a beautiful and blessed marriage, but neither could complain about the outcome. Nicki was always grateful for him, despite their fights and disagreements. There was no other man who could compare, there was simply no other man for her. With her soul mate and two beautiful daughters, she was finally complete.

"Car's here!" Zaiann shouted as she raced to the large vehicle with her sister. Safaree held out his hand and waited for Nicki to take it.

"No, you used a bad word in front of the girls."

"Baby,"

"I'm mad at you Safaree."

"It won't happen again."

"That's what you said the last time!"

"Nic,"

"No nigga don't 'Nic' me! Why would you-"

Nicki was stopped by a passionate, I-want-you-now kiss. She slowly parted then looked into SB's lust-filled eyes.

Her insides involuntarily tingled which caused her to blush a bright red. SB reached out to caress her gorgeous face and made her look at him.

"Still mad at me?"

"Maybe." Nicki replied in a soft tone. The proud man smirked.

"Well once we get home, maybe I can take away all that anger."

"Maybe." Nicki replied as she shook her head then kissed SB once more before approaching the car and driving away.

The End ~
